Search For School Name Continues

Owen Sound | by Kevin Bernard

OSCVI will become an Elementary school in the fall and a new name is needed.

By early next month, the former OSCVI in Owen Sound will have a new name.

A naming committee has been set up and it includes students, teachers and parents.

There are six choices for a school name:  East Escarpment Community school, East Ridge Community school, East Union Community school, Eastview Community school, Elizabeth Laird Community school and Tom Thomson Community school.

The "Name Our school Owen Sound" campaign is open for the next few weeks and a name will be selected in February.

If you want to pick one of the six names, you can vote online at survey monkey dot com, or there are ballot boxes at Bayview and Sydenham schools, the Owen Sound hospital, the Bayshore Community centre, the Owen Sound library and the Julie McArthur Regional Rec centre.

Three area students appeared on Bayshore Broadcasting Radio on Wednesday morning to promote the vote.

Sydenham Grade 6 student Laiki McKenzie was on the air along with Carter Gilkinson and Jocelyn Walpole who are both Grade 7 students at Bayview.
