Retired Minister To Stand Trial

Regional | by Kevin Bernard
George Ferris will head to trial for sexual assault related charges.

An elderly retired Anglican Minister -- who used to preach in Walkerton -- will go to trial this fall.

65 year old Reverend George Ferris is charged with sexual assault, gross indecency and indecent assault on a male.

He was charged in December of 2011, after an alleged victim complained of sex-related offences between 1983 and 1989.

OPP say there have been further allegations of incidents between 1981 and 1988.

Ferris worked in Walkerton, Cambridge, Waterloo, Six Nations and Paris.

Two days have been set aside for his trial in a Brantford courtroom beginning on October 21st, 2013.

The trial date was set during an appearance in Brantford earlier this month.

There is a ban on the publication of evidence presented in the case.
