Booster Shots for Teens

Grey Bruce
by Jenn Rock

Teens in the area are being asked to roll up their sleeves starting this week.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is taking to 13 area highschools to update teens ages 14 through 16 on their tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough boosters.

There will also be the vaccines offered for polio, measles, hepatitis B and meningococcal C offered for those students that are in need of update.

Pubic Health Nurse for the Grey Bruce Health Unit Jody Kroeplin says parents have been sent home permission forms as of late for review and signing for those who need their shots.

Kroeplin says many students need their 10 year booster and this is a way to make sure all students are covered.

She adds if there is any questions parents have about the immunizations their children are set to receive they are welcomed to call the health unit or even their doctors office.

The clinics begin this week and run right through until March 4th.
