ETFO Reaches Tentative Agreement With Ford Government

Ontario | by Bayshore News Staff

Two of Ontario's four teachers' unions now have deals.

Some good news for elementary school students whenever they do get back to school.

The Ford government and the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario have reached a tentative agreement after months of contentious bargaining.

The specifics of the deal have not been released as it still requires union ratification.

Increases to class sizes and the government's insistence on limiting any pay increase to one per cent, were among the main reported sticking points throughout negotiations.

The public elementary teachers union is the second to reach a deal with the province, after Ontario's english catholic school system teachers announced an agreement late last week.

The Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation and AEFO, the french-language teachers union, have yet to come to terms on new contracts with the province.
