Blizzard Warning For Parts Of Grey Bruce

Grey Bruce | by Matt Hermiz

Intense squall expected off Lake Huron tonight.

Mother Nature continues to blast Grey Bruce with a nasty dose of wintry weather.

A blizzard warning has now been issued for Hanover, Dundalk, Southern Grey County, Saugeen Shores, Kincardine and Southern Bruce County.

Enviroment Canada says blizzard conditions and blowing snow are occuring and conditions are expected to worsen tonight into Friday.

The national weather service warns a particularly intense snow squall is expected to develop off Lake Huron this evening and become nearly stationary late this evening in a line from roughly Saugeen Shores to Durham -- causing dangerous widespread whiteout conditions.

Snowfall totals in excess of 50 cenimetres are possible.

Meantime, the rest of Grey Bruce, including Owen Sound, Northern Grey County and the Bruce Peninsula remain under a squall warning.

Grey Bruce OPP are advising against all non-essential travel due to poor weather conditions in region. A police spokesperson says there have been numerous collisions and vehicles in ditches today.

Poor conditions are reported on highways and county roads with zero to nil visibility at times. You can view road closures here.
