Take Your MPP To School Day

Grey Bruce Huron | by John Divinski

Local MPPs Bill Walker and Lisa Thompson are heading to school.

You've likely heard of Take-Your-Children-to-Work-day.

Well, the Ontario Public School Boards' Association or OPSBA has come up with a twist on that.

It's called Take-Your-MPP-to-School-Day and trustees at various boards will be inviting their MPPs to take advantage.

Bluewater District Board of Education Chair Jan Johnstone explained the plan to trustees at their regular meeting February 18th.

Johnstone says the school visits are being planned, April 14th to 17th, following the Easter break.

She says MPPs Lisa Thompson and Bill Walker are being invited to visit schools in Kincardine and Lion's Head.

OPSBA says the objective of the idea is to raise the awareness among MPPs of the rural trustees "and to show the local reality of education in their respective communities."

Chair Johnstone says she's really excited to have this opportunity.
