The Town of Saugeen Shores is the winner of one of six Municipal World Awards.

The Municipal Awards of Distinction, a National program recognized Saugeen Shores for communicating "outside the box"  in the "Sponsored Content" category.

The awards highlights Saugeen Shores communication both internally and externally - by effectively engaging stakeholders to ensure a broader awareness and understanding of town programs, initiatives, and services.

Town of Saugeen Shores Manager of Strategic Initiatives, Jessica Linthorne says they received the news on Thursday (November 28) and the hardware is in the mail.

"We've worked alot with Municipal World, they're a fantastic National partner and we've had a lot of success in sharing our story through Municipal World."

Linthorne says an article submitted to Municipal World highlighted the communications strategies set out by the Town of Saugeen Shores.

"We talked about R.O.S.S. (Resident of Saugeen Shores - video) as our whiteboard video, and the Shore Report Podcast, as well as some internal objectives as part of the article we submitted.

She adds 2017-2020 Communications Strategy is now complete and they're already looking at trends and strategies for the future communication goals.

"One of the pieces we will be implementing in 2020 will be a blog page; we're going to look for community partners to provide content.  It won't just be municipal staff telling the story, it will be encouraging members of Council our BIA's, other partners such as the Chamber of Commerce and local business owners, to be able to share their stories too."

Linthorne says they're proud of the Town's Communication staff.

Awards were presented in six categories and voted on by Municipal World members, the awards recognized the year's top contributors in the categories of: Columnist, Feature Story, Video Interview, Sponsored Content, Municipal Video, and Advertiser.

The City of Calgary's "Too Good to Waste" was selected by members as the top choice in the Municipal Video category and Enbridge Inc. was the top choice under Advertiser.
