It is an exciting day at the Saugeen Municipal Airport for kids between the ages of 8 and 17.
Flight Captain Barry Tschirhart says ten pilots have volunteered their planes, fuels and services to provide youth with a free twenty minute flight.
The COPA For Kids Flight event runs from 9:30 am till 2 pm.
Parents can register their children on site or download a form off the Saugeen Municipal Airport website.
This annual event says Tschirhart is a huge hit with the kids.
He says it helps introduce youth to the world of aviation and allows kids who may never otherwise have the chance to fly.
The popularity of the program has grown by leaps and bounds over the years.
Ten years ago Tschirhart says they would get about 30 kids out, he says the numbers range now between 90 to 115 kids per event.
Not only do the kids get to fly, but Tschirhart says for some very keen youth they may even get the chance to take control of the airplane and fly.
Each youth will receive their own flight book, a briefing on the aircraft followed by the free airplane ride.
COPA or the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association puts on this annual even in the hope encouraging more youth to consider a future in aviation.
