West Grey Police are warning people to watch out for online scams.

Police say on May 13th, a man reported he had been contacted through Facebook and told he had won the lottery.

West Grey Police say the unknown scammer told the victim that in order to receive his winnings, he would have to provide a copy of his driver’s licence and his Facebook password.

They say the victim complied, provided the information and immediately regretted the decision.

West Grey police say the victim took proper action and called police, Facebook and his financial institutions.
