A Georgian Bluffs teen faces numerous charges after fleeing from police who tried to pull him over.
Bruce Peninsula OPP say at about 6 p.m. Saturday evening officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop after a vehicle was observed travelling fast on Grey Road 17 near Mountain Lake Road in Georgian Bluffs.
Police say the vehicle failed to stop for police and took off westbound on Grey Road 17. OPP say officers did not pursue it in the interest of public safety.
Police say a tip came in from a passing motorist that the suspect vehicle had crashed into a snowbank while attempting to turn onto a sideroad.
Officers located the vehicle abandoned on Sideroad 315 at the intersection of Grey Road 17.
Police say the vehicle sustained minor front end damage. It had a Quebec licence plate.
OPP Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team (ERT) were called to assist in locating the driver and a passenger observed in the vehicle.
Police say the driver was identified just after 10 p.m. yesterday. The 17-year-old male from Georgian Bluffs turned himself into the Bruce Peninsula OPP Detachment. He faces numerous charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from peace officer.
No injuries were reported.
