Indulging in a tasty treat will go a long way this winter season.
McDonalds has introduced a new heart shaped Red Velvet cookie, where a portion of proceeds from purchase goes towards Ronald McDonald Houses (RMHC) across Canada.
The Little Family of Saugeen Shores is no stranger to the Ronald McDonald House and regularly stay there when nine year old Olivia Little has treatments in London due to her Cystinosis. Since 2011 her mother Erin Little says the family always look forward to the smell of freshly baked cookies whenever they stay at the RMHC.
The Little families story is being featured in a first of its kind storybook from McDonalds Canada titled, Cookies – from our kitchen to yours. The limited-edition book celebrates eight touching stories and corresponding cookie recipes from RMHC families and volunteers across Canada as well as a special recipe from Canadian Baker, Anna Olson.
"If loved had a taste it would be a cookie," says Erin Little who is thankful to the Ronald McDonald House for keeping her family together during tough times. "It's given our family the opportunity to stay close and focus on what's important," she says.
"I think the project is great because it's on going, whereas McHappy Day is just one day a year. And so with the sale of the cookies it's a constant way to raise money for the Ronald MacDonald Houses across the country and another way to create revenue so families don't have fundraise all the time."
Proceeds from cookie sales will go towards the chairty until Apr. 16 for 99 cents each.
