It’s Hockey Day in Hanover and that means a day full of hockey action, family fun and memorabilia.
The puck drops at 7:30 Saturday morning at the P&H Centre and continue right into the evening.
The day begins with the tyke teams, followed by the Grey Bruce Falcons over the lunch hour as well as most of
Hanover’s Novice to Bantam teams taking to the ice to face off against Walkerton during the day.
The big game happens in the evening at 8 when the Hanover Barons take the Walkerton Hawks.
This event is Hanover Minor Hockey’s biggest fundraising event of the season.
Spokesperson Adam Stanley encourages the public to come out and support the kids.
There are a total of 17 minor hockey teams in Hanover.
Along with all day action on the ice, Hockey Day includes a number of family friendly activities as well.
This includes the hardest shot competition, a temporary tattoo parlour, a bouncy castle, raffles for various memorabilia, a silent auciton and more.
Admission is $5 per adult game and anyone who makes a $2 donation to Jumpstart will gain access to the full day’s event, excluding the Barons game.
Stanley says its been a few years since Minor Hockey has hosted a Hockey Day in Hanover.
He is hoping for big numbers as locals come out to celebrate and cheer on Canada’s favourite past time.
The monies raised from Hockey Day will be used to support Minor Hockey’s skills development training.
